Multicultural Engineering Program

Retention Programs - Challenge and Support

ENGR 1111:

This one semester course is an introduction to classical engineering, focusing on accomplishments of successful multicultural engineers. It offers students team building activities, time management principles, and study skills.

MEP Tutoring:

Free tutoring is available in all math, science, and engineering science courses. The sessions are taught by graduate students and outstanding upperclassmen. Toward the end of each semester MEP host pre-finals week to prepare and assist students for there upcoming finals.

MEP Socials and Activities:

Entertaining activities are designed to develop socialization, interpersonal and networking skills.

Academic Advising:

The MEP director takes an active role in the academic success of students by timely follow-up on academic progress and time management.

Awards and Sponsorship Banquet:

Each spring, outstanding MEP students are awarded for their active roles in student leadership and academic success. At the banquet, a number of scholarships and awards are distributed including the MEP Student of the Year. A faculty and staff member is also recognized and awarded for student assistance above and beyond the call of duty. Also, we pay tribute to the one's that have made our program possible, our corporate partners.

Class Clustering:

Enrolling of students together to facilitate good study habits and support for one another in the classroom.
