Multicultural Engineering Program
Professional Development
Guest Speakers from Industry:
MEP frequently hosts Industry
professionals to be guest speakers, to
address career opportunities.
These
individuals have their expenses
underwritten by corporate support, or,
in some cases, pay their own way to
spend quality time with MEP students.
Our guests share thoughts regarding
industrial expertise and personal
insights relating to life after college.
Regional Plant Tours:
Exposure to industrial working
environments is essential in the
development of successful engineering
students.
Internships:
Provide students with an opportunity to
gain work experience with the industry
while pursuing their degrees.
MEP Student Advisory Board:
This group,
made up of officers from SBETA, SHPE,
and AISES, is designed to be a sounding
board for MEP’s annual programming and
activities.
Personal Growth Seminars:
One priority
of the engineering student services
office is to offer opportunities for
professional development. Dress for
success, resume workshops, business
etiquette, interview workshops, and
dining protocol are just a few of the
“student friendly” seminars facilitated
by the multicultural engineering
program.
Mentor/Mentee Program:
The objective
of this program is to provide a personal
support group for MEP freshmen. Planned
activities bring freshmen together with
upperclassmen who provide advice and
encouragement.
